Kirby Athletic Reserves 1 v 2 Holland FC Reserves
Kirby reserves went in to the border league cup game against Holland looking to kick start there season. The first half had very few chances for Kirby and Holland taking full advantage with a goal towards the end of the half. In the second half Kirby came out the better side and managed to get a goal back through Anthony Pearce who fired past the Holland keeper.
With the game finely balanced and both sides having chances, an error from the Kirby keeper Rob Smith gave Holland a free kick inside the penalty box after picking up a dubious back pass to allow Holland to grab the winner and progress to the next round
Kirby Athletic Reserves 1 v 2 Colne Engaine & Bell United Reserves
Kirby suffered a disappointing home defeat to newly formed Colne Engaine and Bell United. The first half ended goalless with both teams having chances and Rob Smith making a good save at his near post the keep the visitors out. The away side took the lead 10 minutes into the second half after Kirby failed to clear their lines in defence. Kirby responded well and got an equaliser shortly after with a good finish from the edge of the area from Tom Akiens. Poor defending cost Kirby again as they let an opposing striker run unchallenged to the edge of the area and he tucked the ball away in the bottom corner to seal the win for Colne .
